MEET: THE HOLLARS

In 2017 Ben Hollar, and his wife, Meg, realized that being stuck in the rat race wasn't getting them anywhere - and definitely not anywhere happy.

They traded in "normal" for making their own path. After suburban homesteading in Southern California for a few years, they sold most of their "stuff", packed up the rest into a travel trailer, traveled the United States with their kids to find their forever homestead, and are now revitalizing an old homestead in North Carolina!

We've invited Ben to come share his WHY

at Start Somewhere as our keynote speaker!

Why make the sacrifices to homestead?

Why grow your own food?

Why work so hard?

Why raise your family differently?

We strive to love each other deeply, steward the earth lightly, feed our bodies and spirits wholly, and LIVE like we have never lived before.
-Ben Hollar

Ben and his family have been homesteading on their 7 acres in North Carolina full time since 2019. They raise their meat, veggies and kids at home. Their goal is not only raising their own food, but investing in their most important resource - each other.

They share their journey on their YouTube channel:

The Hollar Homestead.
